Get Caught Reading Month

Celebrate Get Caught Reading Month on this its ten-year anniversary!

There are many exciting events happening this May for book lovers. Besides Cinco de Mayo, with its interesting array of titles for May 5th, and Latino Book Month, this May also happens to be the Get Caught Reading Month.

Created by the Association of American Publishers, Get Caught Reading month has been celebrated already for ten years. Every year, libraries, booksellers, educators and parents around the world, from the USA to Mexico, to the UK to Romania and Japan, get together to promote literacy and the love of reading for both children and adults. Celebrities such as Queen Latifah, Emma Roberts, children's author Jenna Bush, tennis star Nicole Vaidisova , Disney Channel's Dylan and Cole Sprouse and many others have joined in the promotional campaign this year. Pro bono support from both broadcast and print media is helping spread the word out. Leading newspapers and magazines such as USA Today, The New York Times, Miami Herald, People, Vanity Fair, National Entertainment Weekly, and Esquire have generously provided ad space.

The campaign is for print books, ebooks and audio books (Get Caught Listening). There's also its Hispanic/Latino campaign extension, Aja! Leyendo!

I've got a title coming out on May 5th as well! And remember celebrations for Cinco de Mayo very well from when we lived in New Mexico.

Thanks for the links!
